The Israeli Association for Citizens' Rights (ICRS) said that the delay of an Israeli checkpoint for a Palestinian fire truck killed three children in their house in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

The Israeli non-governmental rights group said Monday that the incident occurred five months ago.

"We could have saved the lives of Wael (four years), Wadih and Malik (two and a half years), but life in Hebron is futile," she said.

She added that the Palestinian firefighters who were on their way to extinguish the fire that broke out in the home of the rugby family five months ago for several minutes at a checkpoint (Israeli) were unable to save the children.

The rugby family home is located in the Old City of Hebron, which is under Israeli security control and Palestinian civilian supervision.

Israeli checkpoints are scattered around the town, home to more than 40,000 Palestinians and about 1,000 settlers.

The association indicated that it had requested a response from the occupation army to the incident, but was ignored.

"The policy of apartheid in Hebron, which severely violates the basic rights of the Palestinian residents of the city, has led to the loss of the lives of three young children," she said.

The IDF's security concept in Hebron not only ignores the needs and rights of the Palestinian population, but also does not attach any importance to their lives.
