How the US is driving the world's future into darkness:

Israel's favorite war (US vs Iran)

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The commander of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps was killed early Friday in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport that was authorized by President Trump, American officials said.

The commander, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, and several officials from Iraqi militias backed by Tehran were killed when an American MQ-9 Reaper drone fired missiles into a convoy that was leaving the airport.

US assassinate top Iranian official Qassim Soleimani in airstrike

The killing of General Suleimani was a staggering blow for Iran’s military and national pride, and was a serious escalation of Mr. Trump’s growing confrontation with Tehran, one that began with the death of an American contractor in Iraq in late December.

The head of Iran's elite Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), died in the attack. The Pentagon said the US military carried out the airstrikes at the direction of President Donald Trump. "This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans," the Pentagon said in a statement. US officials told Reuters news agency that strikes were carried out against two targets linked to Iran in Baghdad on Thursday night. At least three rockets were fired at the airport, Iraqi security officials have said.

What to expect from the outcome of this attack is still yet to be known, Iran is capable country and have proved its existence in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

In 2006 Israel have lost a war to a single Militia that's backed up by Iran, (Hizbullah) managed to drive the Israeli army with extreme losses that the Israeli generals themselves did not expect.

US role?

In recent months, the US has intensified its "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran, spearheaded by President Donald Trump's unilateral decision last year to pull Washington out of a 2015 nuclear deal signed between Iran and world powers, and the reimposition of sanctions to cripple the Iranian economy.
Shortly after Trump's controversial move in May 2018, Israel carried out air raids against what it said were Iranian targets in Syria in response to rocket fire targeting its forces in the occupied Golan Heights, which it blamed on Tehran.

"What is important to recognise ... is the degree of impunity which Israel is acting under is directly related to the degree that the United States itself greenlights its allies to engage militarily," Trita Parsi, the executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, said.

What this showed, Parsi argued, was that type of blessing from Washington was actually destabilising the Middle East, noting that the attack on Iraq was particularly alarming given that it is a strong ally of the US.

"Israel has engaged illegally in three different Arab countries without the approval of these governments by violating their airspace and essentially acting with a tremendous degree of impunity," he added.
